Earlier this year, Sophie Naab visited the walnut and plum production sites in Chile. “The harvest looks good”. There had been enough rain and the trees had grown healthy fruit, according to feedback from the producers. We regularly visit the plantations there in order to inspect the quality of the products and maintain contact with our long-standing suppliers.

This year we are again heading to the Gulfood trade fair – one of the most important events in the food industry. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet with global suppliers and keep up to date with the global food market.
We will be there and look forward to welcoming established partners and meeting new ones.
The sun-ripened apricots are harvested when they are fully ripe. After removing imperfect fruit, the remaining fresh fruit is carefully washed, pitted, gently dried and steam-refined. The rapid drying immediately after harvesting ensures that the scent and taste of the fruit is preserved along with important nutrients: this way, they retain their fruity, intensely ripe apricot flavour and firm texture without adding any other smells or tastes.
Dried apricots help give you energy and vitality in winter. Our soft apricots are the perfect high-fibre snack for between meals and they are also a key ingredient in many savoury and sweet dishes: as a fruity component in warm, oriental salads with couscous, bulgur wheat and lentils, as a topping for muesli and yogurt, or in a winter pumpkin stew and much more. They taste delicious and are a refreshing addition to any recipe.

The newest innovation on Germany’s snack shelves are our blanched walnut kernels, which are set to conquer the nut market this winter – available at Aldi. The blanched walnut kernels are distinguished by taste that is both mild and delicate and the texture is creamy yet crunchy. Depending on the season, the nuts come from the USA or Chile. They are GMO-free and do not contain additives such as artificial flavours or dyes. The new range includes three products: blanched walnut kernels on their own as well as a sweet and sour mix with sour cherries or a sweet version with cranberries. The stable base and the resealable packaging are very practical. The viewing window gives customers a glimpse of the new product.

We are hoping for some gifts on St. Nicholas day. But St. Nicholas will need some helpers to get involved! We will put in some chocolate and biscuits, a couple of mandarin oranges and an apple as usual. And then we need some all-important nuts too – and the gifts are ready to go. Filling up boots or a sack with little gifts on St. Nicholas Day is a wonderful tradition which creates festive magic, especially for children, in the run-up to Christmas.
